Fear holds you prisoner. Hope sets you free.

Although Andy Dufresne, sentenced to two consecutive life
terms in Shawshank Prison, is expected to give up quickly
under harsh prison conditions, he shows immense resilience
to survive. He builds a strong friendship with Red, a long-
time inmate, and soon influences those around him, convinc-

         A Star Flowing Through the

         Darkness: Mustafa Kemal
         Atatürk Exhibition

         Date: Friday, April 18, 2025 ~ Sunday, July 06, 2025
         Venue: Müze Gazhane
Hosted by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and prepared
by HUMANİS in the 101st year of our Republic, this mag-
nificent Atatürk exhibition opens its doors to Istanbul’s art
lovers on April 18 at Müze Gazhane.

Taking its name from the unforgettable line in Nâzım Hik-
met’s *Epic of the Independence War* and taking seven
years to prepare, the exhibition, directed by Fahri Özdemir, is titled “A Star Flowing Through the Darkness: Mustafa
         Kemal Atatürk.”

The exhibition presents, for the first time to the public in Türkiye, 150 unpublished photographs of the great visionary
Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, along with his personal belongings, correspondences with key figures of his time, telegrams,
newspapers, magazines, period documents, and many other historical items. Among these artifacts, Atatürk’s personal
items, photographs he signed for various individuals, and photographs taken by both local and international photographers
make up one of the most striking parts of the exhibition.

Another remarkable piece on display is a letter written by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s mother, Zübeyde Hanım—a heartfelt
document that transports visitors back to those times with deep emotion.
The exhibition offers a visually unified narrative beginning from 1909, through the Gallipoli Campaign, the fall of the
Ottoman Empire—then referred to as the “sick man of Europe”—and the extremely challenging War of Independence, to
the founding of the Republic and its aftermath.
