Poland
Poland, which is the 9th-largest by area in Europe
and 71st largest in the world with its area of 312,685
square meters, is the 37th most populated country
of the world with its population over 38 million. The
country that became a member of European Union
in 2004 is growing with an increase in export while
maintaining its development thanks to its industry
and underground sources.
Poland which has a border to Germany at the west and located in central Eu-
rope has an area of 312 square meters. Poland which is approximately twice of
Georgia with its size is bordered by Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Slova-
kia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Russia. In the country having a temperate climate
with storms in summer, although the land is mostly flat, the south frontier
is mountainy. Whlie most of the population have settled around Warsaw, the
capital, the south of Kraków and ŁódŁ, the country has a risk of floods and envi-
ronmental disasters such as water and air pollution.
Approximately, 48 per cent of the land is known as agricultural land and 30
per cent as forest. While agricultural sector is nor developed due to narrow
fields and lack of investment, in Poland where half of its territory is eligible for
agriculture, potato, fruits, vegetables, white beet, rye, wheat, barley, egg are
produced, and pig and cattle farming is carried out. In Poland in which dairies
are often seen, poultry raising is also one of the important activities.
A country rich in underground sources
In Poland which is rich in underground sources, coal mining is carried out in
Upper and Lower Silesia. There are sulfur deposits in southeast and zinc and
