Türkiye Sigorta, a company that draws its strength from its name, has announced its ongoing efforts since day one to swiftly heal the wounds in the earthquake-stricken region, which witnessed the disaster of the century. They have also shared their financial results and future vision for the first quarter of 2023.
As the leading company in the insurance sector, Türkiye Sigorta organized a press conference to share their financial analysis for the year 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, as well as their future vision concerning the work carried out in the earthquake zone. Atilla Benli, the CEO of Türkiye Sigorta, who hosted the meeting, began his speech by acknowledging the pain and sorrow of starting the centennial year of the Republic, which they embarked upon with great ambitions, with the catastrophe that deeply affected the Turkish people on February 6th.
Benli said: “In our journey, which began three years ago with a major merger, we are proud to solidify our position as the leading company in the insurance industry in our country. Türkiye Sigorta achieved significant growth in premium production in 2022 compared to the previous year, with a growth rate of 114.2% in non-life insurance and 74.8% in life insurance. Moreover, there was an 84% growth rate in the pension insurance branch.
Prior to the merger, Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik increased their asset size by 237% during the period from 2019 to 2022, reaching approximately 140 billion TL. They demonstrated a growth of 198% in premium production and a 262% increase in fund size, resulting in a net profit increase of 98% to 4.3 billion TL.”
Continuing his speech, Atilla Benli expressed his gratitude to all employees and stakeholders for the achieved success, saying: “With the insurance capacity created by the merger of six companies and the synergy it generated, we have emerged with this great strength, delivering more value to everyone from policyholders to investors, despite the adverse events that have affected the world in recent years. We have enhanced our asset size and capital, gaining significant trust both domestically and internationally.
“We are maintaining our sustainable leadership in the year 2023 as well”
Benli emphasized that Türkiye Sigorta has increased constructive competition in the sector and stated, "As Türkiye Sigorta, we have a great ambition and aim for leadership in all branches. Within the scope of our core strategy of sustainable leadership, we continue to maintain our sector leadership in the first quarter of 2023, with Türkiye Sigorta achieving 12.2 billion TL and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik generating 2.7 billion TL in premiums. Furthermore, in April 2023, we have a fund size of 104.1 billion TL in the individual pension system, continuing to experience the pride of being Turkey's Sigorta (Insurance). We will carry the momentum we achieved in 2022 into 2023 and continue to enhance it, in a manner befitting the centennial year of our Republic. Additionally, 2023 will be a year in which we will solidify our goal of becoming an insurance company operating internationally."

Atilla Benli, expressing that they have been working in coordination with relief organizations and relevant government agencies since the first day of the earthquake, which affected 11 provinces and approximately 14 million citizens, stated, "We have set up damage notification tents and directed our mobile damage and information centers to the region to ensure that damages can be quickly assessed and processes can commence. So far, we have received 43,000 non-life damage notifications and opened 5.7 billion TL worth of damage claims. In the life insurance sector, we have received 6,158 file notifications, with a total damage amount of 403 million TL.”
“We Continue to Work with All Our Strength for the Greater Good.”
Benli emphasized that they are a company with the purpose of being present in all aspects of life and using their power for the greater good. He stated, "In the earthquake-stricken region, we have provided material and cash assistance to meet the needs. With our Tek Yürek (One Heart) Building and Household Insurance, we have opened homes for affected citizens to find shelter. While the construction of permanent housing continues, we have established Türkiye Sigorta Village to address the immediate housing needs. We have stood by our citizens through the healing power of unity and solidarity, enabling them to escape from the psychological effects of the disaster to some extent. During the month of Ramadan, we have set up iftar tables in 11 provinces to be alongside our fellow citizens."
Benli continued his statement as follows: "We are not just an insurance company. Atilla Benli also touched upon Türkiye Sigorta's vision for the upcoming period, highlighting that 2023 will be a year where the goal of becoming an internationally operating insurance company materializes.
