Due to the earthquake disaster experienced in our country on February 6, Turkish Nippon Sigorta General Manager Dr. E Baturalp Pamukçu made evaluations.
Stating that the insurance sector has started to eliminate the losses caused by the earthquake disaster very quickly with the actions it has taken in both life and non-life branches, Dr. E. Baturalp Pamukçu said: “Insurance companies have tried to take place on the side of the earthquake victims in every issue since the first day. I can say that thanks to both in-kind and cash assistance made, as well as important steps taken in business processes, our citizens living in the region have quickly resolved their claims on the insurance side. It is observed that the notifications received from the earthquake zone to non-life insurance companies, including our company, are mainly in the fire and insurance branches. Many independent sections were either destroyed or unusable during the earthquake. In addition to the Compulsory Earthquake Insurance provided by DASK for housing, the importance of housing insurance has emerged at this point.”
Expressing that the importance of discretionary housing insurance for housing, as well as discretionary earthquake insurance, which is covered under the fire branch for commercial and industrial risks, is once again understood, Türk Nippon Sigorta General Manager Dr. E. Baturalp Pamukçu said: “Significant losses have occurred in small and medium-sized enterprises in all provinces. Especially in Iskenderun and Kahramanmaraş, where industrialization is intense, almost all large-scale factories suffered significant physical damage and related profit losses. Our company has received notifications in all the branches and risk types I have mentioned and has started its appraisal studies quickly.” The experts in the region are finalizing the reports in a special effort. Insurance companies will compensate a significant part of these damages from domestic and international reinsurance markets by reinsurance agreements. In addition to the increasing catastrophic events worldwide, the fact that this earthquake took place in our country shows us that the challenging market conditions will become even more difficult in the coming years.” |
