The fire tower installation in Adana was completed in the "Eyes of the Forest" project, which Anadolu Sigorta implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Forestry for the protection of forest assets. Within the scope of the project, the details were shared at a press conference with the participation of Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Mehmet Şencan and Anadolu Sigorta Communications Coordinator Berna Ergüntan; it is aimed to build 4 more new generation fire watchtowers in 2023.
Taking its leadership in the insurance sector one step further with projects with high social impact, Anadolu Sigorta rapidly continues its works within the scope of the "Eyes of the Forest" project, which it has implemented together with the General Directorate of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Anadolu Sigorta, which renovated the watchtowers, which have vital importance in the early response to the fire, completed the installation of an unmanned fire watchtower in Adana within the scope of the Eyes of the Forest Project. The tower, which was put into service in Balcalı, will have an essential role in responding to regional fires with its mobile and unmanned technology.
Within the digital transformation and renewal campaign initiated by the General Directorate of Forestry in 2007, the Eyes of the Forest project, which started in 2022, aims to put into service four more new-generation watchtowers in Çanakkale, Muğla, Adana, and Antalya in 2023.
The project is also aimed to continue to protect forest assets in the coming years by drawing attention to early intervention and raising awareness of individuals.
“Forest fires now a threat for 12 months.”
Starting his speech by saying that forests are the world’s lungs, Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Mehmet Şencan said: “The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Forestry works with great devotion and effort in the fight against fire throughout Turkey. At this point, we set out with this project to be a part of this organization, to contribute to the firefighting efforts, even to a small extent, and to be the lifeblood of our forests. I want to take this opportunity to thank the General Directorate of Forestry and the entire forest organization for their endless self-sacrifice work as a citizen. I would also like to thank our company for allowing our company to contribute to this struggle.”
Support will be provided for the construction of 4 fire towers in 2023
Anadolu Sigorta Communications Coordinator Berna Ergüntan stated that they would work on the renewal of fire towers and the expansion of portable buildings, which have an an importantace in the early response to fire, within the scope of the project and said: “With climate change, forest fires are no longer a threat only for a certain period of the year, but for 12 months. This situation brings with it serious ecological and economic damage. Our biggest goal is to raise awareness on this issue while supporting our country to increase its firefighting capacity. Today, we are excited to open the unmanned fire watchtower in Adana, which we have completed as part of our project, and to put it at the service of our Forestry Organization. Next year, we will support the construction of 4 more fire watchtowers.”
5 thousand hectares of forest area will be monitored 24/7
With the Automatic Forest Fire Surveillance System installed in the Arboretum campus of Adana Regional Directorate of Forestry, Balcalı Forestry Operations Directorate, approximately 5,000 hectares of forest, primarily the Seyhan Dam Lake Basin and the Çukurova University Campus, which are the lungs of Adana, will be monitored 24/7 without interruption. During any fire, the coordinates of the fire will be automatically notified to the relevant persons, and it will be possible to intervene in the fire as soon as possible. |
