DASK Explores the Role of Agents in Earthquake Risk Management at the SAZ2026 Summit

DASK Secretary General Balkır Demirkan participated as a speaker in the panel titled “The Role of Agents in the Service Ecosystem: Operations Management, Technology Integration and Disaster & Crisis Management,” held as part of the SAZ2026 Insurance Intermediaries Summit. During the session, Demirkan shared his views on the critical role of agents in earthquake risk management, the impact of digital transformation on the insurance industry, and the importance of DASK within the insurance ecosystem.

DASK Secretary General Demirkan stated that digital transformation is no longer a choice for the insurance industry, but has become one of the fundamental elements of service continuity. He emphasized that, particularly during major disasters such as earthquakes, the uninterrupted operation of information technology infrastructure and operational systems is critical to ensuring that citizens can access services quickly.

Emphasizing the importance of being digitally prepared for earthquakes, Demirkan continued: "Organizations develop business continuity plans based on different scenarios. All plans designed to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services must be supported by operational digital technologies."

During the panel, Demirkan emphasized that agents are not merely a distribution channel responsible for issuing policies. He noted that they play a critical role in raising public awareness of earthquake risk, providing accurate information to policyholders, and ensuring the continuity of insurance coverage. He also stressed that digitalization is not a substitute for agents, but rather a tool that strengthens their service capabilities.

Countdown to the DASK Mobil App

Referring to DASK’s digital transformation initiatives, Demirkan announced that the new DASK Mobil [DASK Mobile] application will be launched shortly. He added that a version of the same application for agents is also under development. Demirkan said they aim to make service processes faster and more efficient through features such as artificial intelligence-supported claims notification, policy renewal reminder systems and photo-assisted claims assessment.

DASK Secretary General Demirkan stated that DASK’s digital transformation vision is based on creating a complementary relationship between digital channels and agents, ensuring that citizens have access to fast and reliable services under all circumstances.
