Cappadocia
Named “Katpatuka” (Land of Beautiful Horses) in Persian, Cappa-
docia was named a cultural and natural heritage site by UNESCO in
1985. Cappadocia is a natural wonder formed as the winds and rains
of the region corroded the layer created by the lava and ashes that
erupted from the surrounding volcanic mountains millions of years
ago.
Located in Central Anatolia, Cappadocian region is formed around
the cities of Nevşehir, Kayseri, Kırşehir, Aksaray and Niğde. With
its famous valleys and peerless ‘fairy chimneys’, Cappadocia draws
intensive attention from domestic and foreign tourists in every season
of the year.
Cappadocia mesmerizes its visitors by turning into a fairy tale as its
fairy chimneys and valleys are covered in snow white. The region re-
ceives high number of visitors even during December, January, Feb-
ruary and March.
The first thing that pops into minds when you say ‘Cappadocia’ is the
balloon tours. Hot air balloons is indispensable in Cappadocia. You
can hop into a balloon even in winter to see the beauties of the region
from the air. Balloon rides are cancelled only during extremely rainy
or stormy weathers in winter. If you come to this beautiful city, you
must definitely hop into a hot air balloon.
