Launay, Jisbar, is getting ready to meet art enthusiasts in Istanbul in No-
vember. Known for personalizing famous figures from classical art and
reinterpreting them with modern pop-art, Jisbar will exhibit his exhibi-
tion titled “Jisbar İstanbul’da” (Jisbar in Istanbul) at Kalyon Kültür Taş
Konak. As per the artist’s statement, the exhibition, consisting of a total
of 20 pieces and 40 original prints inspired by Istanbul, can be visited for
         free from November 8, 2023, to February 14, 2024.

Kalyon Kültür, which hosts different disciplines of art, will host the fa-
mous name in pop art, Jisbar, in November. Recognized in the art world
for his original works in the pop art style, Jisbar will present his exhibi-
tion titled “Jisbar in Istanbul,” reflecting the colorful spirit of Istanbul,
to art enthusiasts in the city.

“Every work of art is a story waiting to be deciphered.”

Jean-Baptiste Launay, also known as Jisbar, was born in France in 1989. Jisbar gained recognition in the art world for his performance
at the commemoration ceremony of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, which garnered much attention. One of Jisbar’s
notable works is a new version of the Mona Lisa, reinterpreted and sent into space, hanging for over an hour and a half at an altitude of
33.4 km, creating a buzz in the international media. Jisbar, when interpreting his art, says he sees each piece as a new story waiting to
be decoded. He enriches these stories with words, slogans, numbers, and codes. The artist invites everyone to focus on every detail in his
works and to discover their own clues, messages, and histories. The abundance of signs in the artworks creates new perspectives, allowing
the viewer to find new elements and interpretations every time they look at the painting. Exhibited in galleries around the world, from San
Francisco to the Gold Coast, Taipei, Venice, Paris, and London, Jisbar’s works serve as a source of inspiration for many artists and brands
         with his unique approach.

“I’ve come to share my heart and soul.”

Jisbar, making his debut at Kalyon Kültür with the exhibition titled “Jisbar in Istanbul,” expresses his emotions, saying, “Istanbul is not just
a backdrop for my exhibition; it is also a source of inspiration, a muse. When I immersed myself in the rich history and lively streets of this
city, I felt a deep connection. I found myself in an environment where different cultures intertwined, sounds blended, and the color palette of
this place deeply influenced my art. My exhibition is an expression of my respect for this magnificent city, a tribute to its spirit. I am excited
to share my heart and soul with Istanbul. I hope that my art resonates with both the people of Istanbul and the visitors to the exhibition.”
Kalyon Kültür Director Dr. Cem Bülent Ünal commented on the exhibition as follows: “At Kalyon Kültür, we shape our work with a vision
to support cultural production by developing collaborations that are not bound to a specific space or geography, and to increase intercul-
tural interaction. With this perspective, we are delighted to bring the world-renowned figure of the pop-art movement, Jisbar, a product of
popular culture, to Turkish art enthusiasts. Hosting various disciplines in the realm of art at Kalyon Kültür, we are particularly pleased this
time to support communication and interaction within the cultural and artistic world through our exhibition ‘Jisbar in Istanbul.’ Like all our
exhibitions, ‘Jisbar in Istanbul’ will be free of charge, and we welcome everyone to join us.”

Between November 8, 2023, and February 14, 2024, Jisbar will present a visual feast with his artworks, original prints, and surprises at
         Kalyon Kültür Taş Konak.
