GES are now under Groupama assurance

Groupama Sigorta has developed a new product for solar power plants (GES), which are one of the most invested areas in the renewable energy sector.

Groupama, which attracts attention with its product diversity, has developed a product aimed at the renewable energy sector. The product for solar power plants, the installed capacity of which has increased almost 200 times in the last seven years, is designed to minimize the risks of power plant investors.

Emphasizing that it is important to achieve the zero carbon target on a global scale after the Paris Agreement, to which Turkey is also a party, Groupama Sigorta Deputy General Manager for Technical and Operations Emre Bayram said: “The zero carbon target will be achieved with measures to be taken on the basis of both companies and individuals. In this context, we believe that the insurance sector also has an important responsibility. We are on the side of our insured in risk management, which is our main role. After our special guarantees for electric vehicles that contribute to the sustainable environment and optional guarantees for rooftop solar panels within the scope of housing insurance, we now aim to minimize the risk in renewable energy investments with our Solar Power Plant product.”

Noting that Turkey is located in a very efficient geography in terms of solar energy, Emre Bayram said: “The installed capacity of Turkey in energy has reached the level of 100 thousand MW. We are in a better position than many European countries, especially in renewable energy. As for solar energy, we have more than 7,800 MW of installed capacity. We are talking about an increase of almost 200 times in the last seven years. We have achieved a significant success here by paving the way for unlicensed power plants. In order to protect this energy supply, we have focused on developing products to address the risks of GES. We offer up to $4 million in coverage per policy with this product that we have prepared specifically for GES. Even in consolidated facilities, this amount is up to $20 million. We guarantee the risks such as fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, storm, hail, snow weight, theft, electronic device, loss of profit, loss of performance that may occur in GES.”

In the new product prepared by Groupama Sigorta specifically for GES, the policy coverage is offered in dollars or Turkish lira, while transmission and distribution lines up to 500 meters of GES can also be insured.
